Bwin Interactive Entertainment AG, formerly called betandwin, is an Austrian online betting brand owned by GVC Holdings. The group worked under international and regional licenses in countries such as Gibraltar, the Kahnawake Indian Colony, Belize, Germany Italy, Mexico, Croatia, Austria, France, United Kingdom in Europe. The group offers sports betting, online poker, online casinos, dexterity games. The most profitable companies bring poker and sports betting. Bwin had over 20 million registered customers in over 25 major markets. The company’s main offices are in Vienna, Stockholm and Gibraltar. All operations were carried out by licensed subsidiaries. History

Bwin, known as Betandwin from its inception until 2006, began operations in 1997 with 12 employees. The company launched its first online gambling site just a year after the company was founded, focusing on the growing sports betting market. One of the most important events in the company’s history was the launch of its own real-time betting product, which allows players to bet on sporting events during the event itself. The company’s initial public offering on the Austrian stock exchange took place in March 2000 – betandwin was the most successful initial public offering in the history of the Austrian stock exchange, having managed to raise capital of 55 million euros. In June 2001, betandwin was sold to Bwin International Ltd., and essentially concentrated all its operations in Gibraltar. This move was made to follow some of the company’s biggest competitors. By December 2001, betandwin was ready to enter the online casino game market and did so by launching its first casino platform. Two years later, in July 2003, betandwin introduced and launched the game platform known as Balls of Fire. In November 2004, betandwin launched a multiplayer online poker room. December of the same year marked another major acquisition – the acquisition of Ongame e-solutions AB. This acquisition was a step in line with the group’s strategy of entering the poker market after Ongame e-solutions changed its name to bwin Games. However, in 2005 Betandwin acquired global media rights outside Germany over the German Football League. In August 2006, betandwin launched a new bwin brand. This was done after it was discovered that the betandwin brand was no longer suitable for the wide range of entertainment offered by the company, including sports, poker, games and casinos. In 2007 bwin began offering live broadcasts of major sporting events.

In September 2009, bwin announced the acquisition of the Italian poker operator Gioco Digitale, marking the company’s entry into the Italian online gambling and poker market.

PartyGaming merge

On 1 April 2011, bwin and British gaming company PartyGaming announced their merger. The new company has become the world’s largest public online gaming company, 48.4% owned by existing PartyGaming shareholders and 51.6% by bwin shareholders. The combined company is listed on the London Stock Exchange with CEO Norbert Toefelberger and Jim Ryan.
2014 Continued to develop bwin.party interested gambling giant GVC Holdings. Started a long process of absorption. It was completed in early 2016 and cost the GVC approximately $1.5 billion. The outcome was so successful that GVC shareholders received an unscheduled €30 million in dividends after bwin.party’s takeover brought excessive profits.

Back in play

In 2017 bwin again activated sponsorship. The company became the official betting partner of four clubs of the Spanish Examples – «Villarrela», «Valencia», «Seville» and Madrid «Atletico». A four-year contract was signed with Dortmund «Borussia». Bwin became the title sponsor of «Grand Slam» darts, which in 2017 will be called bwin Grand Slam of Darts.

In June 2017, it was announced that the legendary world and European champion Robert Pires had become the brand’s ambassador.
